In 1880, Samuel Bath Thomas, a pioneer and entrepreneur in the growing food business, opened his own bakery in New York City after moving to the United States. He used a special process involving a griddle in order to create an English muffin that was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This eventually led the way to the Thomas' English Muffins that you know and love today.
Since then, the production process has remained the same; the company pursues quality ingredients to make coarse-grained, yeast-raised texture, and then the English muffins are split, not sliced, to receive a crunchy, toasty texture. Also, the company's commitment toward listening to consumers and using environmentally-friendly practices has grown in recent years.
