Adam Gurtler was raised in Commack, New York with his mom, dad, and brothers. While growing up, Adam developed a passion for delicious food and cooking which then led him to an appreciation for barbecue. While in college he began testing unique ideas and concepts while catering for friends and family.
Adam's first restaurant, The Smoked Joint: A Barbecue Experience, located in Philadelphia, PA, and co-owned by his brother, Keith, was named one of Esquire Magazine's top new restaurants in the country.
Food Network first discovered Adam in 2008 when he appeared on the fourth season of Food Network Star where he moved to the final challenge. Later, Adam hosted his own shows including Kid in a Candy Store and Will Work for Food.
