Per their website, Evelyn Overton started her cheesecake-creation journey in 1940. In 1972, she and her husband started selling The Cheesecake Factory Bakery cheesecakes to Los Angeles restaurants. The first Cheesecake Factory restaurant was opened in Beverly Hills in 1978, by Evelyn and Oscar Overton's son David. Today there are more than 200 restaurants around the world.
The Cheesecake Factory has won many awards from 2003 through 2016, including being named one of Fortune's "100 Best Companies To Work For" in 3 consecutive years.
