#9: The Ginger People Ginger Chews: a sweet, hot candy...

Picture
Established in 1984, The Ginger People, a family-owned and operated business, began with a mission to produce a wide range of the world's finest ginger products and ingredients.

According to the The Ginger People website, "Herbalists have used ginger to restore vital energy, stimulate circulation, and relieve countless maladies, including nausea and headaches. Modern science backs what the ancient have known for centuries. Add in ginger's versatile flavor and culinary prowess, and it's clear why we're passionate about this venerable spice".

The Ginger People Ginger Chews (a.k.a. Gin-Gins), are a convenient and fun way to enjoy the taste and spice of ginger while enjoying a unique chew. The 4 available flavors are original, spicy apple, peanut, and hot coffee.

What we liked:
Comments from our taste panel included "definitely chewy", "nice texture", "love the powdered sugar on the outside", "starts out sweet and then the spice builds", "nice to see a great product with only 3 ingredients", "better than I expected", and "gotta start eating more ginger from now on".

#8: Talenti Sea Salt Caramel Gelato: truly worth looking for...

5/21/2012

What began in 2003 as a gelateria inspired by Argentine helado, gelato brought to Argentina by Italian immigrants in the early 20th century, Talenti has grown into the best-selling gelato in the U.S.

Buzz about Talenti continues to grow. Media features include Food & Wine, In Style, Redbook, MSNBC, and many others.

Talenti's recipe for success is simple: source the highest quality ingredients possible, strict attention to detail, thoughtful flavor profiles, and consistent execution.

The Sea Salt Caramel has a rich, golden, Argentinian caramel base, brought to life with fleur de sel sea salt "the caviar of salt", then adds chocolate-covered sea salt truffles. The result is truly something special!

What we liked:
Sea Salt Caramel Gelato was a big success at our taste panel. Comments included "amazingly smooth", "just plain irresistable","well-balanced unbelievable flavor", "absolutely amazing, "fresh-tasting", and "a perfect 10!".

#7: Crunchy, sweet taste to be had in the Chocolate Cornflakes Ritter-Sport Bar...

There are lots of options for today's "sweet tooth". Holding their own in this highly competitive category are a line of high-quality, all-natural milk-chocolate bars known as Ritter-Sport.

The Milk Chocolate w/Cornflakes bar is just one of our favorites from the century-old company, Alfred Ritter GmbH& Co. KG based in Waldenbuch, Germany.

The "Sport" label attached to Ritter chocolate bars is based on their uniquely designed shape. The bar's squarish shape was designed to fit into the pocket of a man's sport coat.

What we liked:

Like most of their other bars, Ritter's "cornflake bar" is sweet without being too sweet. At 3.5 ounces, there is always more than enough (comparable to 2-3 regular chocolate bars) to share with happy snackers. The 16 smaller, individual pieces are well-defined and easy to break apart from the larger square.

Comments from our taste panel included "crunchy and creamy", "better crunch than a chocolate crisp rice bar", "sweet and smooth without being too sweet", "interesting size and shape", "superior chocolate taste, esp. when compared to typical candy bars", and "simple, straight forward taste without too much complexity".

#6: Beecher's Handmade Flagship Cheese is the way cheese should be...

When Kurt Beecher Dammeier, owner of Beecher's Handmade Cheese, opened his first location at Seattle's Pike's Place in 2003, he was in good company.

Kurt and cheesemaker Brad Sinko have created a line of artisan cheese products that has developed a long, loyal, and vocal following.

Pictured above is Beecher's "Flagship" semi-soft handmade artisan cheese. Such is the following for handmade "Flagship" (aged 15 months) and other Beecher's products that they've won numerous awards from the American Cheese Society, World Cheese Awards, American Cheese Maker Awards, and several others. Also, Beecher's products have been featured in a variety of media, including The Nate Berkus Show. Online site www.whomyouknow.com says, "Beecher's Flagship cheese literally blew me away from the very first bite!"

What we liked:
This item found us through a business associate and friend who raved about the Beecher's Flagship Cheese that he and his family purchased on a trip to Seattle, WA. Planning to bring some home, he was dismayed to discover that his family had eaten their entire purchase in their hotel room.

Comments from our taste panel included "sharp and savory but smooth", "soft consistency but full of flavor", "starts out crumbly, then turns into a creamy texture in your mouth", "unforgettably aged", "sharp taste", "great by itself but also with apples, crackers and more", and "let's get some more!".
